Who Invented the Dumpster?

Sacramento dumpsters form a part of everyday life. Still, they haven’t always been around. Before dumpsters were invented, large-scale waste removal was a significant problem. Imagine modern construction or industrial sites without dumpsters for trash collection and removal. Recycling on-site would be next to impossible. Roll-on roll-off Sacramento rental dumpsters make it easy to keep work areas cleaner, safer and more organized.

Dumpster History

The modern dumpster was patented by George Dempster in 1935 when he was the mayor of Knoxville. Dempster and his brothers owned a construction company. So, he fully understood the problem presented by waste transport. He started working on a solution.

His initial system involved pulleys attached to a motorised vehicle. The original bins had pins on the sides. The pins were used to raise the bins, which had a rear-hinged gate for waste disposal. In 1937, Nashville, Tennessee, took the lead and became the first city to adopt dumpsters as a city waste disposal system.

Efficient Garbage Collection

In the days before dumpsters city waste presented a significant problem. There were piles of rubbish everywhere, and the only way to clear it was to manually handle it all, loading and unloading garbage by hand. The dumpster enabled clean and contained garbage that could be carted away, and the dumpster was quickly replaced. The ease of collection and replacement ensured no interruption in garbage collection.

Dumpsters in Sacramento and elsewhere have helped to reduce the problem of waste collection and removal. Though we don’t think of its origins, we can thank George Dempster for making waste removal less labor-intensive and more efficient.

Decluttering Before the Big Move

Moving into a new home is exciting and daunting. There’s a lot to plan and do, especially if you’re moving to another city. This is the perfect opportunity to get rid of all the junk you’ve accumulated over the years.

Reasons to Clear Out Before the Move

Clearing out before you move makes sense. It will reduce the cost of transport and the stress when unpacking on the other side. It also means there is less to pack, so you’ll save on packing materials and the problem of discarding the packaging.

Decluttering the Easy Way

As you plan your move, you must decide whether you’ll need a San Jose dumpster or a junk removal service. A move is a perfect time to get ruthless when clearing out. In choosing what should stay and what should go, ask yourself when last you used the item and whether you would buy it again. Consider the item's practicality and the cost of moving the goods to your new home. Will the item match the decor, and will you have space for it?

Once you’ve sorted all your goods, you’ll have to decide what to do with the items. Some of them may be worth selling, and you can use the proceeds toward the costs of the move. You could sell the items online or hold a garage sale.

There may be items like clothing, books and appliances that you can donate to a worthy charity. After selling and donating good items, you will still have things to discard.

A San Jose dumpster is a convenient option as it will be there waiting to accept the junk as you declutter. When the dumpster is full, call for a collection, and we’ll take it all away.

The Benefits of Folsom Residential Dumpster Rental

Most people think of dumpsters as commercial or industrial waste removal solutions. Still, many homeowners have also realized the benefits of dumpster rentals for residential projects like clean-ups, landscape clearance, construction, and renovation projects.

Municipal waste management programs won’t take away large volumes of waste. There are times when help is needed. Hiring a truck and taking several trips to the closest waste disposal facility may be an option. Still, this can be an inefficient and costly exercise. Time to call in a Folsom rental dumpster.

Save Time and Money

If you’re planning a project, Folsom dumpster rental can save you time and money. When you rent a Folsom dumpster, it parks on your premises for the agreed period, and you can fill it. Then, order its collection. So long as you hire the correct size (you can choose from six dumpster sizes) you optimize transport costs. Folsom dumpsters are easy to use as they’re dropped off and collected at the times that suit you.

Safety

Making sure that there is a designated place for waste ensures a safer work and living environment. Unless you have a dumpster in place before you start your home improvement project, waste materials will lie around, creating a safety hazard. It is also possible that damaged or discarded construction materials could damage or contaminate good materials.

Folsom Dumpster Rental Projects

If you’re planning any of the following residential projects, it is worth planning a scheduled dumpster Folsom delivery.

●Home renovations - have a place to put the building debris

●Moving home – you don’t want to pay for unnecessary cartage costs. Clearing your home of unwanted items ahead of the move is a cost-effective strategy.

●Landscaping – with a dumpster you’ll have a handy space to place your garden waste.

Before you plan your next big project, order a Folsom dumpster of an appropriate size and keep the area safe and clean.

How to Arrange San Francisco Dumpster Rental and Removal Service for a New Business

Plan your dumpster rental and delivery with time to spare. If you’re opening a new business, dumpster rental may be the last thing on your mind. Still, if you plan ahead, you’ll have dumpsters ready and waiting for the start of business, so you can ensure that new employees start with good housekeeping habits.

Here are our tips for San Francisco dumpster planning and management for a new business.

Know the City Regulations

The San Francisco Mandatory Recycling and Composting Ordinance requires the separation of recyclable and compostable waste, so you must plan for this. If you don’t comply, you’ll pay penalties.

Choose San Francisco Dumpsters

Choose dumpsters of an appropriate number and size to match your estimated garbage generation and planned collection schedule. At 7 Day Box, you can choose from one of six San Francisco dumpster sizes. Dumpsters range in size from 5 cubic yards to 40 cubic yards.

Prepare the Dumpster Area

Before you order your dumpsters, you must ensure that you have a suitable area to house them. You’ll need enough ground space with no overhead obstructions. A flat concrete area is the best surface for dumpsters. Lighting with motion detectors will help to prevent nocturnal pests from infiltrating the area.

Draw Up a Drop-off and Collection Schedule

A regular schedule that fits in with your operational plans will ensure that you know when to expect the pick-up and delivery of your San Francisco dumpsters. Well-planned delivery rosters will ensure the least disruption to your daily operations.

Adjust your San Francisco Rental Dumpster Schedule as Needed

Business operations change with time. You’re not bound to your original schedule. Adjust yours as needed to fit your changing garbage removal needs.

Dumpster Management

Don’t overfill the dumpster. Train your employees so that they know what can go into the dumpster. Signage will help to remind them. There should be no trash hanging over the sides or sticking over the top of the bin.

Ensure that there are no obstructions in front of the bin that will delay the pick-up and delivery on the scheduled delivery days.
